Maria Cavali is a Lithuanian photographer and founder of the Heterochromia Project; an ever expanding collection of portraits documenting the differences of colouration in each subjects eyes.
For several years Maria has been researching the science and history of Heterochromia, recording her findings and portraits online. What started as a hobby for Maria has become a recognised, wide-reaching hub for all touched by the condition.
‘Heterochromia – Children of Hags’ will be the first publication to fully document Maria’s portraits alongside personal statements and stories from each subject. A crowd funding project, the sampler document shown was designed to be produced by Maria herself to send to backers and promote awareness of the project.
The Heterochromia Project symbol was designed to clearly portray the condition as a simple mark. Overlapping tones representing different colours – forming a central iris that depicts the project itself and the unity of its participants.
